Reading some of the reviews online suggest that it's a very good company with quality workmanship, but I have a few concerns. I don't see anywhere that show that you actually own the trademark or that the rights are signed over to you following the completion of the design.

The prices aren't that cheap, but the old saying "you get what you pay for" I believe to be true in this instance.

So I'm looking for any personal experiences or additional suggestions. I know that there's always local options, but I'm curious if these types of companies provide a quality product.

My parents used 99designs.com recently for their new business and got some really impressive logo's. I think it was $500 bucks. You setup a competition and tell different designers what you want then pick finalists and tell them what they would need to change and such.

Then you pay whoever the winner is for the rights to use the logos. I think they got about 10 different designs from the winner. I don't think you have to pick a winner either if you aren't happy with any.

They had 145 designers enter their competition.

I saw that one too and it looks interesting. Do you know if there were actual legal documents signed to ensure that they owned the logo?

I'm not exactly sure but I have a feeling they are. My step father is very detail oriented and wouldn't be cool with it not being owned by him.

I'll tell you, I was very impressed with the designs he got. They are really attractive. He liked a few and gave some small details he wanted changed and they were changed within a day. Very neat stuff.

I'll definitely consider them as well, and I like the concept. It forces the designer to put forth effort and kills complacency. Thanks.

You get what you pay for. I have no problem paying $500 for a professional logo design. In looking around on the internet, there are some really bad graphic designers out there.

Just reviewed their website and I really like the format, and some of the designs were awesome! However, it looks like the post the businesses details openly for anyone to see. For and active business that might be fine, but for a business not yet really active and wanting to remain private for a while longer, I wonder if they allow you to not display the results.

logotournament.com is a really popular one too. I would go that route personally.

"Full Legal Ownership of your new logo. Once you pay the winner of your contest, the logo is exclusively yours."

I like how this is stated right on the front page.

Just a quick bump, but I think I'm going to try 99designs. I really like the layout of their website and the reviews online are very favorable. I'm still debating what package I'm going to purchase, but it will at least be the $499 silver package. I'm really thinking about pulling the trigger on the gold $799 package because it tends to weed out the real amateur submittals. I'm just not sure if it's worth the extra $300.

Yea I did mine myself and it is absolutely embarrassing. I plan on paying someone to do one but just spent a crapload of money buying new tools. Will prob suffer with what I have this year and then take advice from some post on this thread for next year.

I'll update the thread once I go through the process. I like some of the portfolios I looked at so I'm hoping it comes out alright.

I tried using vector tools myself and it looked horrible.
