Life punishes those who aren't paying attention just like jackals and hyaenas punish the inattentive on the Serengeti. This person made the mistake of having something someone else wanted.

Not to threadjack but regardless of your age, everyone here should have a will if you want to make sure the bulk of your property goes to your family.

And where does the 6.30 come in?

She had previously owed other taxes, but at the time of the sale she owed just $235, including other interest and fees.

I'm not bothered by this situation. If she was sent multiple notices and apparently it was confirmed that she received them, that is her fault.

Yet criminal aliens can enter the country and sign up for welfare and food stamps.

Saw a story that 70% of illegals in Houston are on welfare. They just sign up through their American born kids. And I am sure the liberals who are OK with this tax sale, and that are foaming at the mouth over Bundy, have no problems with illegals draining the welfare system

The process around here is they will send a certified letter and the USPS makes someone sign for it.

I made the mistake of paying my tax on one piece of property online. I got a delinquent tax letter. I carried a printout of the electronic transfer to the Probate office who didn't give a shite because of the way they record payments. I double paid my taxes on that parcel. Ever since, I pay them in person with a check and ask the clerk to sign the receipt.

Which is more damaging to society, a woman owing 5.00 in taxes or billions in welfare to criminal aliens?

So now you are comparing a local county tax issue to a Federal immigration issue?

That's quite a few people. I'm going to need a link on that.

So much whining in here. Look, learn Chinese or move to Canada. Drink some Tiger's Blood. Become a Warlock. This place is fricked and there's nothing you can do.

I don't know about the law in PA, but in LA, you are given notice well in advance. If you can prove that you weren't given notice, you can annul the sale.

With home ownership comes responsibility. Property taxes aren't a new thing.

"There is no doubt that (she) had actual receipt of the notification of the tax upset sale on July 7, 2011, and Aug. 16, 2011," the judge wrote. "Moreover, on Aug. 12, 2011, a notice of sale was sent by first class mail and was not returned."

Well I agree with your premise, but I think 2 months is a pretty short amount of time to take a house. Hell, the electric company gives you more than two months before they shut off your power (the first time anyway).

And that's one of the reasons that your power bill is so damn high. You pay for the thousands upon thousands of bills that are never paid.

I'd be willing to bet that many, if not most, of the American born children have parents who actually work in addition to collecting government benefits. They just can't work legally so the income goes unreported.

This is what happened to over half of my family's homestead during the Great Depression. The family member who had been paying the property taxes to the state died and his wife made a mistake in filing causing her to be less than $3 short. They lost 2/3 of their land as a result. Because of situations like these, Louisiana has it written into their constitution that the state is no longer allowed to do this because of property taxes.

This is very bad, no defense, can't believe anybody would defend such actions. To take a house, the time limit on any past due bill should be at least a year and at least $1,000 due with certified notice sent.

I do agree that there should be another means of recouping the debt aside from seizing and selling the property.

If what is owed is under X dollars, the county should be able to garnish wages or seize other assets first.
