His Momma called him Lew ... I say Lew.

LINK

quote:

And now the poor guy’s girlfriend (undoubtedly ex-girlfriend now) is on tape cajoling him into revealing his racism. Man, what a winding road she led him down to get all of that out. She was like a sexy nanny playing “pin the fried chicken on the Sambo.” She blindfolded him and spun him around until he was just blathering all sorts of incoherent racist sound bites that had the news media peeing themselves with glee.

quote:

They caught big game on a slow news day, so they put his head on a pike, dubbed him Lord of the Flies, and danced around him whooping.

quote:

Shouldn’t we be equally angered by the fact that his private, intimate conversation was taped and then leaked to the media? Didn’t we just call to task the NSA for intruding into American citizen’s privacy in such an un-American way? Although the impact is similar to Mitt Romney’s comments that were secretly taped, the difference is that Romney was giving a public speech. The making and release of this tape is so sleazy that just listening to it makes me feel like an accomplice to the crime. We didn’t steal the cake but we’re all gorging ourselves on it.

quote:

He’s just another jerk with more money than brains.

quote:

The big question is “What should be done next?” I hope Sterling loses his franchise. I hope whoever made this illegal tape is sent to prison. I hope the Clippers continue to be unconditionally supported by their fans. I hope the Clippers realize that the ramblings of an 80-year-old man jealous of his young girlfriend don’t define who they are as individual players or as a team. They aren’t playing for Sterling—they’re playing for themselves, for the fans, for showing the world that neither basketball, nor our American ideals, are defined by a few pathetic men or women.

i give credit to KAJ and Bomani Jones for standing in the face of the common media narrative, as AAs, who are both calling out the girl for her actions and asking why there wasn't outrage for the litany of racist shite from just the past decade

Lol.... The clippers were beyond horrible for a loooooong time.

So someone who belongs to the Nation of Islam - with Louis Farrakhan as its leader - is getting on his high horse and complaining of "racism"?

Anyone who has ever had any association with that hate group should never be taken seriously again. They should ALL be shunned and ostracized and laughed at. And, yes, this includes Mohammed Ali.

It's pretty silly IMO. It would be one thing if he was making a public remark and said something as asinine as he did, but he was in a PRIVATE conversation, at least for all he knew. As long as he wasn't mistreating employees, discriminating at the workplace, or making these remarks in the workplace, I see no issue here. That doesn't make me empathetic with him, it simply means I respect the right of privacy, and his privacy was breached.

If we could spy on every business owner and tape their private conversations, I'm sure there would be a litany of complaints.

Cause the media would rather focus on a racist basketball team owner than the shitty job our racist president is doing.

because the masses like the media to tell them what is important and what is not important. Mind numbed MuthaFkers.

I agree with you. These NBA players turned a blind eye when Sterling was discriminating against minorities in his real estate business, but now that he's said some mean things about them personally, it's the end of the world. The current generation of NBA players are self-absorbed drama queens. The difference between them and Black athletes from Jabbar's era, like Bill Russell, Jim Brown, Muhammad Ali and Authur Ashe, is that they didn't only take a stand when they were affected, they took a stand even when their fame and money insulated them from the plight of average Black folks. Keep in mind, that when Ali refused to be inducted into the Army, he knew full well that he wasn't be a grunt crawling around the mud of the Mekong Delta, but would have a cushy gig fighting exhibition fights for the troops, a la Joe Louis.

The fact that you refer to him Lew shows that you really don't respect him, despite what you're trying to imply with the thread title.

How many black people work for Sterling's girlfriend? Which team does she own?

Nah. That cake tastes foul.

It is sad that irrelevant stories like this dominate our news.

She's got the entire media working for her, at present. I'd say thousands.

FYI, Jabbar has never belonged to the Nation of Islam, and Ali hasn't belong to the Nation of Islam in almost 40 years.
