If so, how did you handle the situation?

No but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

A friend of mine did. He had the surgery amd said it sucked balls

Had one my freshman year of undergrad. Dad also had one at the same age. Had the surgery to have it removed and everything went pretty smoothly. Takes a few days to recover, but it's no problem.
One concern is that it comes back for some people a year or two later. I know a guy who had the procedure three times. Never took. Ended up having to go see a specialist in Oregon. But yeah, it sucks. Prayers sent.

So there's no way to fix it besides surgery?

Pop it or dig it out with a razor and tweezers.

had one removed 20 years ago. there's no "cure".

Yeah it doesn't just "go away." The surgeon who got mine out said it was a little bigger than a golf ball. I get chills thinking about it.

Not necessarily. Depending on what you are dealing with symptom wise. You may be able to manage it for a while to see what happens. It could possibly resolve or at least go inactive for a very long time, maybe forever.

the longer you wait, the worse it will get.

Have had one for the last 5 years. Was painful back when I first noticed it. In the last 3 years I've hardly had any problems. Maybe pain once or twice for a day or two

You're fricked until you get it removed

You have to get it cut out and drained. It's hell, but a major relief once it's popped.

Whenever you drain it, pull out every ingrown hair you can find

Buncha pussies up in here. Take care of it yourself with a butterknife, a stick, and the wad of cotton from an aspirin bottle.
