So made my first Phish show and I still don't understand what all the hype is about. It's 15 to 20 min jams of Charlie Brown Peanuts theme music. I kept seeing images of Charlie Brown paddling a raft down a river the entire set. I will continue to change the channel on the radio when they come on. Seeing them live didn't change a thing.

I will add that the crowd for the show was awesome. I had a good time at the Acura stage. IMO it will be one of the best crowds for a headliner all fest long. Those people know how to do it right. I'm sure the Clapton crowd will be way different tonight.

Phish isn't for everyone. I thought it was a great show.

If trolling all the 3.0 phish fans on this board is your thing, then to each their own.

I don't even know what 3.0 phish fans mean. I'm just giving my opinion on the show. I thought that was the point of a messeage board.

I'll also add I understand this was a JazzFest set so I didn't get the full experience of a show with the lights and all that good stuff.

Ditto from when I saw them a few years ago. They're fine musicians individually, but they're music is boooorrrrinnnnng.

Maybe the crowd has improved since the last time.

I streamed the 2nd set because i couldnt make it out there, so my opinion needs to be taken with a grain of salt. But if thats what a "great" 3.0 show sounds like phish has fallen off way further than i thought. Im sure you had a great time, as im sure most people did on a beautiful day at jazzfest.

They're in their mid 40s. We all should be so lucky that they're even still playing... let alone back in Nola.

My first show was in 95, so I was lucky enough to see them in their prime. I'm done comparing shows, and just enjoying the ride.

So Phish is essentially The Rocky Horror Picture Show

same here. first show was at the fox theatre in atlanta, 1995. bigger things are on my plate nowadays, so i can't drop everything & go to several shows at a time anymore. because of that, i've only had the chance to catch 3 shows post-hiatus... like you, these days i'm just happy to be there

wasnt a great phish show, still better than what most of what else gets put out there. So I guess you could say it a great show in general.

Phish doesn't lend itself well to one off shows where they don't have time to get a feel for each other during a tour and gel.

I had a great time out there, but the show was what I expected. No complaints here.

Phish is an overrated nostalgia act.

Do yourself a favor and see string cheese incident Thursday. That's a real jam band

It was a festival set

Show me some SCI 2013 jams that hold a candle to the Reading Disease, Hampton Tweezer and Carini, AC Carini, Tahoe Tweezer, Dicks Chalkdust, MSG Carini, etc

Weren't you the one that said this would be far from a regular run of the mill festival set?

Credibility dropping hard, mon

I'll post those cheese jams when I get home

It wasn't a great show. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't really a very good show.

Trey sounded really off most of the show, and was whale calling bad and playing WAY too many notes

Oh well, still saw Phish in NOLA and had a good time

Obviously that was wishful thinking.

Whatever, Anders->Phish was the best afternoon I've ever seen at the Fairgrounds, and I have been going for 17 years.
