GameStop has its collective eyes set on mobile, and specifically on Apple-branded devices, like iPhone and iPad. GameStop-owned brands -- like Spring Mobile and Simply Mac -- will expand at a significant rate in the fiscal year to fulfill Raines' goals for the company.

They have 6500 stores worldwide though. They would probably trim the fat anyway with or without plans for going into other business ventures.

Yea doesn't make sense to have like 6 in one town.

In my home town there are about 7 with in a 10 mile radius and at one point two less than a mile from each other in shopping centers that border each other

I have can see why, I was considering pre ordering DA:I from GameStop because they had bonuses but then I saw amazon had the same ones so I went with Amazon. I can remember when they had pre order bonuses on lockdown, how the times have changed.

I'm sure there are others around Shreveport, but I know of two that are across the street from each other. I'm pretty sure you can see one from the door of the other.

I tend to like using GameStop simply because I can talk to the people there and they know what the frick I'm talking about. If I ask for their opinions on certain games or game recs, I tend to get a decent answer.

Agreed. I don't understand why a market like Baton Rouge has like 10 GameStops....

Yeah there are 2 directly across the street from each other in Tuscaloosa. It doesn't make much sense at all.

The one by Guitar Center and the one by Lowes? Those are right across the street

According to Google it's a half mile walk. There's another over on westport too...that's another mile or so. Two max.

I went there looking for something one time, I think MVP Baseball 2005, and they didn't have it. The guy said "lemme call one of our other stores in town". He called the one over by GC and told me they had it. It may have taken more time to call than for me to just go over there myself

I briefly worked at the one in Gonzales. That store makes a ton of money. It also gets more trades than most of the other stores in BR.

Companies that are doing very well decide to build and expand without proper foresight.

Best Buy did the exact same thing.

I've done the exact same thing. Maybe their setup isn't so bad.

The Gonzales/Seigen situation is different though. There isn't another GameStop across Airline, only down the interstate.
