How many of you will mourn?

And if the finale "sucks" how devastated will you be? I have not been this invested in a show in a long time.

I already find myself re-watching episodes, so I can see myself doing it for a while.

Will not mourn. I have enjoyed the series, but I'm not all caught up in the hype.

Mourn? Don't know if I'd go that far. Mad Men is great, but I mourned Breaking Bad and The Wire. Don't think MM will be on that level.

Also, splitting the final season was a bad idea. I'm not completely sold on this first half of the season because I know it's going to be incomplete and then a long wait for the remaining episodes. Then by the time the last few episodes air, I'll be frustrated with the long wait to finish one season.

Mad Men just doesn't have the plot to hold suspense like that.

I don't mourn a show ending when it should. I'm happy they aren't trying to drag it out like they did with Lost.

I agree with this. It was a really stupid idea to do the half thing, but that has nothing to do with the show and everything to do with AMC so blame them. I know The Sopranos did it, but that was a different time in TV. This first half of Mad Men won't end like the Hank/BB thing did. It's just not that type of show.

To answer the OP, I will be very sad. Mad Men is my favorite show ever and losing it will leave a huge void. I am happy it's ending though because I think it's time.

Will never mourn mad men, but you better believe AMC will. It's a good show that has moments of brilliance, but not nearly as often as the hype would lead you to believe IMHO.

They are definitely splitting up the last season, like they did with Breaking Bad...right?

Agreed.

Not to hold it up to Breaking Bad, but "60s ad guy who lives a lie" isn't nearly as suspenseful as "chem teacher turns kingpin."

Overall, I like Mad Men and think it's a good show, but I think those who obsess over it and find metaphors in quite literally every angle of every shot are just a bit too much. Matt Weiner has gotten to the point with MM fans where he can pretty much put anything or try anything in an episode and the diehards will try to tie some metaphor to it.

Yeah, sucks I read the 2nd half won't be back on until May, 2015. So a year break.

Great point. Its so character driven that I feel that it just loses it's appeal during the long gaps.

As much as I like Mad Men, I agree that it doesn't need to be broken up like Breaking Bad. I get why AMC did it, but it shouldn't be. I'm having trouble finding the quote, but I remember Weiner saying he told his wife how he planned on ending the show, and she said she hated it. No telling what the means though...

Nothing does. Splitting seasons is nothing more than a chicken shite money grab scheme

It did work for BB. Go look at the numbers after the split. People forget that BB was not very popular until almost the end of the whole series.

I'm also hoping that Don goes out in a hail of gunfire.

I've just gotten so tired of his character...everyone else seems to move forward in their own way, he's just turned into a complete emo.

Wonder how those talks work? You know A&E is not ready to lose the show. But when Weiner and writers are out of ideas or knew their stopping point all along, then it's time.
