Can we stop wishing dead people happy birthday?
It's stupid.
It's stupid.

From chamber dark, the summons comes, some spell,
Of virile gods, the fertile goddess's knell,
And so once more, into the breach, dear friends,
'Mongst blood and screams, a chapter new begins,
Pink mewling thing, wetnurse's palm doth strike
Ignomious, the mother cradles tyke,
Who grows by weeks, and inches, pounds and tooth,
This lingual father's brain blossoms, forsooth,
So many a phrase flows bloodless from his hand,
Of love and lust, betrayal, lives of man,
Will die with graceful words, or none at all,
"Et tu brute?" Then Caesar, fall.
And none can wash away the Bard's damned spot,
His stain is left upon each summoned plot,
So many words are writ, derived I fear,
From that proud pup the ages dub Shakespeare.

One of my favorite quotes ever from old Bill:
"Don't let your mouth writeth a check your asseth can't cash"
Truly a man ahead of his time.

All I know about Shakespeare from the 3 or 4 plays I have seen is that the barefoot guy in any of them is a "rustic".
He really was ahead of his time, even had an affirmative action play about Othello without there being any black people in England to speak of. How did he know to do that? prescience

Ummmmm...no. Othello was a tale of illicit romance and betrayal. As it was set in Venice and he was a Moor, it wasn't as if he shoehorned "some black guy" in to make some sort of PC point.

I wish Hollywood would release a movie version of The Merchant of Venice.
