Does anyone have any info on the St. Baldricks Foundation?

I was thinking of hosting an event. It's a way to raise money for childhood cancer research.

I went to several in Louisville, ky. It's fun. You donate money, get your head shaved, drink beer, and get a t shirt.

Does anyone know how much of the money actually goes to research?

Anyone ever been to an event?

I'll be hosting this in Natchez, MS for what it's worth.

TIA

I've already contacted them and started the process. I just wanted to know if anybody else had an opinion.

A friend's daughter, who was around 19 or 20 I guess, decided she was going to do the St. Baldrick thing. So she solicited pledges on facebook, and I contributed. Then she ended up getting a job offer she really wanted, so she backed out of the actual head shaving. She rationalized it with the whole "the money is still going to a good cause" thing.

They are good. I work with MDs that host events every year, and they give out many research grants unlike a bunch of shitty charities.
