Dad had a CT Scan done today. They found a 1.9 cm nodule on his lung. Not sure if it's cancerous or not. The X-Ray also showed a lesion on his liver, but we're not sure if it's a spot that was already there or something new. My question is if he does have lung cancer and it has metastasized to his liver wouldn't there be more than just one 1.9 cm nodule on his lung?

I don't know about the nodule on the lung but I've had one on my liver for a while so I wouldn't worry too much about that part. Hope it works out for the best which is likely.

not necessarily. Every person is different and every tumor inside of them can be too.

Im a CT tech. Did the report state he has a lesion on his liver? It could just be a cyst not related to the lung nodule.

The best advice that I could give would be to sit tight and let the diagnostic process work, even though that's tough to do when you hear about any kind of "abnormal" finding for a family member. Whether or not a solitary lung nodule of this size is malignant depends on many factors, and the same can be said about the liver lesion, so do your best to relax for now.

Good Luck to your Dad.

First of all, benign liver masses are extremely common. They are statistically much more likely to be benign than malignant.

Second, yes a liver met would usually present with multiple nodules.

I'm not sure. I have a friend who is also a CT tech and I got him to pull his scan. All he could tell me was that the Dr. marked the nodule on his lungs as suspicious and that the scan "also picked up a lesion on the liver". We do know they found a place on his liver a few years back I'm just not sure if it's the same one showing in the scan.

Thanks for the replies so far.
