According to Peter King of TheMMQB.com, one “Friend of Rick Smith” (the Texans’ General Manager) said that Smith preferred Buffalo linebacker Khalil Mack to Clowney, but his preference in quarterbacks was unclear.

If they don't plan on picking the CLowney, then why the hell has he stopped working out for other teams?

Clowney is going to be a Texan.

They have the first pick though. There's no need for smokescreens

Smith wants Clowney, O'Brien wants Bortles, and McNair wants Manziel.

I would prefer any of those three over Mack, probably in the order of Clowney-Bortles-Manziel

Right, since that pick is ineligible to be traded.

Didn't Clowney stop working out because Brandon Thomas tore his ACL? And yes I realize that could be an excuse

The #1 overall pick has been traded more than once, with at least one of these being the New Orleans Saints trading the pick that became Bubba Smith for Gary Cuozzo, who became the first starting QB in team history.

Eli's a special case because he was traded for Rivers on draft day instead of someone trading a future 1st that became #1 overall.

All three were because contract terms could not be met. The first pick has only been traded when the team with it was basically forced to do so. This isn't like those situations at all and regardless the Texans aren't trading the pick

The Bengals also traded the #1 pick in 1984.

So you think the Texans will trade the first pick?

Because he has nothing left to prove on his draft stock and a guy from Clemson torn his ACL during a predraft workout

And we all know Clowney is all about protecting his draft stock (see his college career)

Who said it was going to be traded? You didn't understand what the grown ups were discussing so you made a dumb statement then backed it up with false facts. Now, you are mad and just trying to change the subject to "well I bet it isn't traded."
