The Wii U is a pain in the a$$. (advice requested)

I purchased the Wii U a couple of weeks ago and it's been one pain after another. First problem, there are about 3 different controllers and each game requires a certain one. Also, the mini-screen is just a pain in the but, I wish the kids could just put a game in and play without my assistance for 10 minutes getting them in 2 player mode. Please fill me in on any tricks or lessons to make this purchase more enjoyable.

Step 1: Teach them how to read and write.
Step 2: Point them in the direction of the youtubez for tutorials and such.

The only thing I've noticed about the WiiU is that it is the Adobe of gaming consoles.
That SOB will have a new update every day.

Seriously? When we had a Wii 5 years ago, it seemed like they never pushed updates on it. Oh, how things have changed.

He probably works for Nintendo.
That's what they want you to think.
Next thing you know, he'll be starting threads about how many WiiUs were sold this month.

Sounds like a really cool guy if so.

Scruffy is not that far off the mark, I constantly see the yellow light on the Wii U.

If I'm not mistaken it does this for any update, console or not. It's just tells you that it is downloading something in the background. Plus, I like that it downloads and installs updates without me doing anything.

Well every game uses the touch screen controller but if you want multiplayer, yes you need other controllers, for most it doesn't matter what. The easiest way is to just run 3 nunchuck sets and the touchscreen controller. That's only two types.
Are you trying to play Nintendoland, that's the only game that REQUIRES three different controllers depending on the game.

What games, it's as easy as inserting the disc and pressing two buttons on the controller to get it started.
I know for Super Mario World, Lego Marvel and Hobbit, and Rayman you just hit start on any other controller (and those should be your first purchases anyway).
Nintendoland looks like its for kids, but it's unforgiving and a little complicated actually (it does make the best use of the touchscreen controller though).

sounds ridiculous and unfathomable. Obviously, you saw that on an episode of The Jetsons.

I've had like 2 the entire year I've owned mine and I'm pretty sure one was the first one everyone gets as soon as they take it out of the box.

Get 2 pro controllers and 2 wii remotes.
Problem solved
As far as getting your kids to the multiplayer screen, make sure they're literate. I hear public school systems are shite these days
