I am looking for a grill for my new house. I have a wood pellet grill for smoking and slow cooking. I want a grill to grill steaks and other quick to cook food.

Any pros and cons?

They're awesome. I know that. Don't know of any cons.

Have you used one, or eaten food cooked on an infrared grill?

The little bit of info I can find on the internet is certainly positive other than the price. Just hoping I could get feedback from someone who has used one or eaten food from one.

Thanks.

I had the TEC Patio II for about 12 yrs. This model has since been replaced, due to the natural upgrade cycle of the manufacturer.

It was a great unit and put out a ton of heat. The cooking area was stainless steel, but the base and pedestal were regular steel and eventually rusted out. Replaced it with a BGE.

Would buy TEC again, though.

I've had one for years. They are great. Expensive, but great. Be careful in the beginning and learn how to deal with the heat they are capable of generating. But don't hesitate to buy one. They are the best on the market that I've tried.

grill steaks

The best steak I've ever had came off one of these grills.

Still have mine. Still going strong. A few things need to be done, though. I've lost my manual but I suppose I could could get in online through the manufacturer.

Now that I think about it, it's probably due for a cleaning.

ETA: Apparently you can find replacement parts online for the discontinued model.

Does anyone know of someone in the N.O. area that can work on them if it becomes necessary?

Bring the ole one(if you still have it) to a welding shop and have them use stainless for the base on it. It will not be hard, or nearly as pricey as your alternatives will be.

The retailer I had bought mine from would come and pick mine up, bring it to their shop and clean it, and bring it back to me.

Might have been a small fee for that, but it was a great maintenance service that did a much more thoroughl of a job than I could do.
