Unfinished woud dining table water spots

Is there a way to remove water spots/stains from an unfinished wood table? If this is possible, is there a treatment (like a scotch guard) that I can use to protect the wood without altering the appearance?
I knew the table was unfinished but didn't expect the "stains" to be so noticeable. Thanks for any input

I have heard, water with some baking soda, though I have not tried it...

Let dry completely, sand it with 220, 500 ,1500 then spray sanding sealer. Try with the 1500 first, if it comes out then you'll save yourself some work. You can spay the sanding sealer first if the stains are light but I doubt it with unfinished furniture.
You're going to have to eventually apply some urethane to protect it once you get it fixed.
Really these are all suggestions since I can't actually see the wood or the stains.

so you want the wood to still look unfinished, but be sealed? or just a clear coat that wont alter the color?

Maybe expeirrment with another piece of wood that is similar. A clear polyurethane won't make it much darker.
You should seal it with something. Maybe tounge oil IDK.
