I enjoy LL baseball and think it would be a fun job for a little extra cash. Anyone know who to get in contact with, or the best way to go about this?

TIA

Don't do it. Save yourself from constant death threats. Parents are the enema.

By buddy umpires LL and high school games regularly in Hammond/BR area. I'll ask him who you need to talk to

Dude I'm serious.. It's fun for a while but parents are crazy.. I have been umpiring since I was 15.. Have had parents say they are gonna whip my arse, had to call cops after parents have been throwin out and even had an off duty cop say if I came through his town he would make sure to pull me over.. Asked the cop for his name and badge number he turned around and walked off.. Parents are crazy it's ok money.. We get 35 a game but be prepared to be yelled at and threats be made at u.. My first game tonight is at 545.. I gotta start getting my gear on

If I knew then what I know now.....

I would have officiated everything I could in college. It is the perfect part time job for a college kid

Prepare your anus

I work at a very laid back church league and there are still some coaches and parents that act worse than the children that are actually playing

I umped two games on the same day a year or two out of high school. Out in the field was easy. Behind the plate sucks arse. Not because it's hard but like others said adults lose their shite over LL calls. That one day was enough for me.

Yup. Unfortunately we get paid the same so everybody is always trying to get out of doing behind the plate

Had a buddy try to do some games in the league I'm at. He lasted a few days and just didn't like it.

I was fortunate that I got a week or two to just shadow somebody. I didn't get paid, but it definitely prepared me more to handle coaches reactions to calls they disagree with
