I was reading the Syracuse fan reactions to the LSU-'Cuse home and home announcement...

... And the fans all talk about LSU in the same light as USC and Alabama, calling us "the Big Boys"

Now, I *know* we have been legit for quite some time, but I guess I haven't ever felt real secure about LSU's place amongst the elite until now. Even when LSU has been at an elite level for more than a decade now. Growing up in the 70's 80's and 90's with the Tigahs, we have always been competitive, but never elite, until, frankly, Nicky Devil cemented us there. Thanks, Devil.

At the same time... now, when LSU has 10-3 seasons, it just doesn't seem quite good enough. Sometimes, I think I would be more happy with them if the expectations weren't so high... Ignorance is bliss.

So, what of it, then? Is it impossible to be both a supportive and a demanding fan at the same time? What is "good enough" anyway? Are we now down to drinking the kool-aid if LSU doesn't win the title?

agreed that it puts things into perspective. LSU has been a power house.

We are spoiled fans in the hotbed of recruiting with very high expectations. I concur with the logic you have posted here. The University of LSU is a player on the national scene year in and year out and deserves the reverence of Syracuse for a home and home. While it may not help our OOC strength it will put us in front of the huge NorEast market wihich won't hurt our chances in swaying votes for the playoff system .

I agree with most of your post.

But g--dammit, LSU was #12 in victories and #10 in bowl appearances BEFORE Saban even came down here.
In the 90's we won three consecutive bowl games in '95-'97 and won 10 games in '96.

In the 80's we went to six bowl games (3 NYD),
had 7 winning seasons, finished ranked 5 times, including #5 finish in 1987, and won 3 SEC titles

In the 70's we went to 7 bowl games (3 NYD), had 9 winning seasons, finished ranked 5 times, and won an SEC title. and had 3 top 10 teams.

In the 60's we went to 8 bowl games (4 NYD), had 9 winning seasons, finished ranked 6 times, and won an SEC title.

A majority of our fanbase has insecurity problems

I grew up out of state and growing up, LSU was considered a "big boy." The LSU brand is a strong one
