Have you ever temporarily lost one of your senses?

Historically, I have a hearing deficit, but for the past 9 days, I've had an ear infection with absolutely ZERO ability to hear out of that ear. Was on antibiotics for a week with no help. Finally started some steroids and a strong(er) antibiotic, and am regaining a little hearing. Even though it's not as bad as being blind, not having it sucked.
And yes, CSB.

yes, once last year I completely lost my sense of smell due to a cold...
I found it odd how much losing your sense of smell affects how things taste...everything was similar and all of it was either salty or sweet...nothing in between...
I actually lost interest in eating...
ETA: I also temporarily lost hearing in one of my ears in a similar situation to one that you mention...suprised me how much of day-to-day life I missed while it was gone...

That sucks... No smell=no taste.
Does he know what caused it?

Young and dumb me shot around 150 rounds of .357 indoor without hearing protection. It was about two days of constant ear ringing and voices that were next to me but sounded 100 yards away.

Some sort of sinus infection caused me to lose smell and taste for 3 weeks. It was miserable

I went through the exact same thing you are. I also have hearing loss and got an ear infection when I was about 18. It was a miserable experience, but if you keep taking your medicine it should clear up.

I saw a transformer explode and emit this bright green light. Me and my dad had to stop the car bc we couldn't see anything for a minute or so

A few years ago, I had bad poison ivy rash on my arms and legs (wasn't paying attention while I cleared some brush -- practically had the stuff wrapped around my arms and legs.
Anyway, the dermatologist gave me a steroid shot and an oral steroid and after the first day, I had a terrible metallic taste in my mouth, by day two i couldn't taste or smell anything.
I had no sense of smell or taste for two weeks. The doctor said it might never come back as it was an allergic reaction that can sometimes cause permanent damage. I was worried and it sucked big time!
Thankfully, it all came back - and it made me appreciate the senses we have.

I specifically remember as a kid trying to slide down a slide standing up. It was one of those dual slides with two lanes divided by a separator.
Well, of course, I fell on my arse half way down the slide. When I got to the bottom I tried talk and couldn't....like I told my lips to move but no words came out.
It was the strangest/scariest/weirdest thing....
ETA: I've also temporarily lost hearing in one ear due to a severe ear infection.

I've never lost one of my senses, but I did lose my voice for 9 months. Initially it sucked being hoarse, but by the time it came back I was used to it.

Yes. Common sense. On many occasions.

I've lost sight once randomly. I gained it back 5 minutes later.
It's been 15 years and never happened again.

My sister has MS and she has lost her sight a few times for as long as a month. She says she starts getting headaches a few days before but no real warning. The first time it happened she was on I-5 in San Diego driving a Geo Metro. it just comes back usually in one eye first and then the other a day or more later.

I've lost 30% of hearing in my left ear and 20% in my right

I went to law school with a guy that couldn't smell. It was a side effect from antibiotics he took as a child.

Years ago I had to go through chemo and totally screwed up my sense of taste and smell. Nothing smelled or tasted right. The smell of bacon cooking was absolutely nauseating. It was great for losing those unwanted pounds! I hope never again.
