Good inning for Kelly. I like him as our 5th starter.

I never get why Yadi wont sit the day after night game. He is almost like Matheny is in that way of thinking. Matheny never wanted out but would sit on getaway games generally.

Yadi sat the first game of this series. I agree getaway games make more sense for a catcher to sit, but I think they wanted to avoid putting a spring training line up out there against a division foe. Especially when they can go for a sweep.

Not sure, he did have the day off on Monday. It is probably more to do with number of games in a row than a day/night split.

Sorry to derail this thread some (but I guess it can fit with the topic)

Look at the Catchers the Birds have had since the 80's. It is like a All Star list...
Simmons
Matheny
Pagnozzi
Yadi
Pena
Heath
Porter
Pena
Spanky

Idk how long Yadi will be able to keep this pace up but I think he is just so valuable to our pitching staff that Yadi/Matheny figure while he is able to cotinute to play 150+ games a year might as well do it

And to think I complemented bubba's defense last night

It was he and Van Slyke that got the Birds Pena.

I loved watching Pena catch especially when nobody was on. But when someone got on and he started slanging the thing he had a rocket.

Yea, he had that awkward set with his leg as well but he sure could sling that ball.

I like how people try to tell you that Hernandez was a better Met than Cardinal. He just won a MVP in St Louis on a losing team, but he was better as a Met.

He had a couple of his best seasons as a CArdinal.

I think he was highly overrated in general though.

I really dislike Jay in Center

His defense is mediocre. If the ball isn't close, he's not getting it.
