Oregon -

The Ugly: Bralon Addison is seriously injured (ACL tear) and will likely miss 2014. The WR core will lose Huff and Addison, the top two receivers from last year.

The Bad : There looks like no heir apparent to Mariota. Jeff Lockie is a little ahead of Jake Rodriguez and that is not good news. Rodriguez has all the tools to run the offense but forces throws and Lockie doesn't have the arm strength to be a good qb. Damion Hobbs was a project to begin with and remains as such.

The Good: The call to arms this offseason was to push more weight. Normally the Ducks S&C program has the players working on speed in winter and this year they added more pure strength training. The boys are carrying more weight and apparently without loss of speed. This is a welcomed sign for duck fans.

Hmm very interesting. I am excited to watch our team play the Ducks this fall.

For MSU-

The Ugly: WR Macgarrett Kings was dismissed from the team for the rest of spring practice for a violation of team rules. He was a key part of our passing game last season.

The Bad: Our defense has given up more big plays this spring than all of last year combined. Not too worried about it, they have the experience and talent, they will get it together.

The Good: Our offense is continuing to build upon their success from the end of last season. DeAnthony Arnett has stood out as a playmaker at WR. Langford at running back is a stud. OL is solid and Cook will continue make big plays.

Barring serious injuries it should be another good season for the Spartans

The Good: we still have Zo and Elijah carrying the ball

The Bad: Broadway still struggles to throw the ball

The Ugly: Jay Johnson is still the OC

Too bad Bryan Bennett is down here ballin' out in Louisiana, huh?

Bryan would've lost eligibility, so it was a moot point. He was a year ahead of Mariota. He would've been an insurance policy to spell Mariota but Bennett was to skittish in the pocket to carry us to the NC. All our marbles are on Mariota this season.

I am hoping that Rodriguez is a gamer. I think it would be hard to keep your mental edge when Mariota is the incumbent. I am hoping he steps up in 2015.

There is a call to arms in my office to get the whole squad down to Autzen. We haven't had a quality OOC opponent since Michigan in 2004. The place is going to be rocking and I am getting goose bumps just thinking about it.

Clemson:

-Clemson's DL will be top 5 in the nation this year. Every person returns from a DL that lead the nation in TFLs last year, and it's loaded with juniors and seniors.

-Mackenzie Alexander, a freshman CB who was injured last year and had to redshirt, is apparently more than living up to the billing. They say he's the absolute truth and will start from day one.

-Offense will struggle from day one and likely throughout the season.

-At QB, depth is now razor thin with Kelly getting kicked off the team. Stoudt will be consistently average, but he could legit be pushed by Watson by season's end. By all accounts Watson is everything they'd hope he'd be.

-At RB, will likely be a dropoff from what we've had in the past with James Davis, CJ Spiller, Andre Ellington, and Hot Rod, but depth is real good here.

-At WR we're gonna see a HUGE dropoff from the Sammy/Nuk era. Artavis Scott, a true freshman jidderbug (think Devin Hester), has been real impressive but we don't have much experience and are really struggling for height and size (something we've really used well in our vertical attack lately).

-At OL, the entire OL looks very stout EXCEPT for the RT. This is probably our biggest question mark right now, and will be a huge weak spot from day one.

-Overall, Clemson's makeup is going to change almost overnight into a team that relies heavilly on their defense.

Is Roderick Byers on the roster for Clemson? I know Oregon had him until Clemson came in late.

Alabama-

The Ugly: Replacing a ton of talented players, including all but one offensive linemen

The Bad: Breaking in a new offense along with a new quarterback

The Good: Returning nearly all skill positions on offense. Running game should be dynamic depending on how O-Line develops

Penn State-

The Ugly: Another season with a post-season ban

The Bad: This team wasn't great last year and a lot of starters return. The O-Line took the biggest hit as a unit. Also, a new coach and entirely new staff. Could be a good or bad thing.

The Good: Same answer, really. A lot of starters return. A LOT of seniors on this team which is worth at least something. Hackenburg will be in his second year and should keep improving.

Yea but he's crazy buried in the depth chart. He's just such a tweener and has really just been out-recruited.

I don't think you missed much, but he is still really young. He's having to transform his body to play at this level.

I thought he'd be more suited for a 3-4 DE. He went with his heart though.

Bama returns 3 starters on the offensive line. New QB hasn't been a problem so far. Skill positions are sick. I'm more worried for the secondary after losing EJ.

Good to know your QB hasn't been a problem throughout SPRING PRACTICE.

That's too bad he got kicked off, definitely a talented WR. Glad the O has been coming along

He means having a new qb hasn't been a problem. Our last 2 "1st year quarterbacks" won National Championships
