But that's never been their style. And there was like a 10 game stretch when you guys had everyone healthy I thought.

And they were the most potent offense in the league by a wide margin in that short stretch.

No they weren't. They were very good on offense based on the numbers, but they were not first and certainly not by a wide margin.

They were 4th points per game, and 3rd in offensive rating. And it was 21 games. So it was about a quarter of the season.

Their record was 11-10 over that span.

They averaged 106.0 ppg. The highest-scoring team, the Blazers, averaged 110.3 ppg. So the Blazers were actually the ones leading by a wide margin.

If you look at points per 100 plays, the Pelicans drop to #10. That means they were getting many second-chance opportunities.

They were certainly one of the best offensive teams during that span based on the stats. But they were not "the most potent offense in the league by a wide margin".

Just curious, but who are you counting as a "healthy?"

I'm positive this team definitely didn't have 21 healthy games, together.

eta: Holiday, Gordon, Evans, Anderson, Davis played 12 games together.

pretty much. I never was that into basketball because we didn't have a team when I was growing up. So it took me a couple of years and a little persistence by friends and relatives who were hornets fans to get me to start watching and get excited for bball

Their O-Rating was around 125 or something absurd.

Needless to say they were very effective.

On jrue+reke:

"Some people"(they know who they are) have questioned the effectiveness of jrue bring the ball up with reke is around.

It really doesn't matter who brings the ball up as long as both operate together effectively(which theres no evidence to suggest they wouldn't be)

Hell tyreke has played with a ballhog in roberts and has done just fine. There's no reason jrue and reke can't work together well as their styles can fit well.

It matters less the "title" of PG and SG. It matters more that they would probably play well off of each other. Holiday at PG and Evans at SG would yield identical results as Holiday will inevitably guard the shorter guy and Evans will guard the taller guy on defense. On offense, however, Evans driving ability certainly opens up Holiday's 3 point shot, or when the defense doesn't cheat, Holiday's ability to drive the lane himself on the kickout and go for the floater or to the rim. EG+Holiday was far inferior to Tyreke+Jrue in the advanced statistics. The team spaces better with and Jrue has more room to operate with a true slash fiend like Tyreke on the floor. EG just doesn't bring that unstoppability on the drive like Evans does

From November 16th vs. Philadelphia to 1/3 vs. Boston.

Tyreke Evans missed 2 games with an ankle injury in the middle of that month and a half.

Anthony Davis broke his hand on Dec 1 vs the Knicks and came back Dec 18

Eric Gordon went down Dec 23 vs Sacramento and came back Jan 1

2 days later Anderson had his season ended.

I was mistaken. Where were you looking that you figured that out? Did you just look it up by each game individually or did you do a database search of some sort?

ESPN game logs(for each guy) are a solid way

Just used Ryan Anderson's game logs on nba.com/stats, because he played so few games.

Since he barely played this year it wasn't too difficult to dwindle down how much they played together as a group.

You can also find lineup groupings there, but that wouldn't necessarily tell how often they suited up in the same game, just how often they played on the floor together.

I was using ESPN's game logs and I was looking at Anderson's games just see who was listed under DNP.

I didn't realize that some guys were not listed at all. Tyreke was listed as DNP - sprained ankle.

So just glancing at the DNP's, I didn't realize Davis missed some time in there.

Yeah i saw that too.

I just kind of knew when the Davis, Gordon, and Anderson injuries happened so I disregarded the DNP section and just counted to see if the core guys logged minutes

Sorry, I should have been more specific. The Finishing Five 5 man unit has an offensive rating of 125. Here are the top 5 man units for the top 5 offenses. Requirements were at least 90 minutes together and had to be mostly the core starters.

Clippers
Paul-Collison-Barnes-Griffin-Jordan 125

Pelicans
Holiday-Gordon-Evans-Anderson-Davis 125

Blazers
Lillard-Matthews-Batum-Aldridge-Lopez 114

Timberwolves
Rubio-Martin-Brewer-Love-Pekovic 116

Rockets
Beverley-Harden-Parsons-Jones-Howard 113

Thunder
Westbrook-Sefolosha-Durant-Ibaka-Adams 108
