What is the backstory with Jordan Allen?

Saw a tweet today that says he visited TCU today and will a few others (Cal, Arizona, etc.) and won't be playing at LSU his final year. Then read a post saying he couldn't get into grad school at LSU? What is the back story here? Did he get passed over at his position at LSU? How good of a player did he turn out to be for LSU?

All I know is that for what ever reason, he could not get into grad school at LSU. And yes, Danielle Hunter passed him up on the depth chart. Not that it would have mattered all that much, Allen still would have gotten a lot of playing time this year. But Tigernation wishes Jordan the best of luck wherever he goes.

Side note: Danielle Hunter will be scary good this year.

Agreed! Jordan Allen didn't leave because of lack of playing time. He would have been in the rotation. Maybe not the starter but definitely a major contributor. Hated to see him leave. Best of luck to him where ever he lands.

Would LSU really have shut him out of grad school? Get real

Great motor, always playing hard. He'd be a welcome addition to any team. Have no idea why he was unable to get into grad school. X amount of spots and he didn't get one, no idea why.

I think it's odd that he can't get into lsu grad school, yet he's applying for Cal?

It sounds odd because it's more than likely not true.

Question for everyone: Do you have to be formally admitted into a graduate program to extend your playing career, or can you just enroll in graduate-level courses? Didn't guys like Manning and Luck just stick around and take courses after they graduated? If so, why didn't Allen go that route?

Doubt anybody on an internet message board knows the real answer but a guy who established himself in the playing rotation last year, & was more than likely to be in the thick of things again this season, can't get accepted into grad school? That sounds very very odd. Whatever the reason is that he is leaving, I wish him the best & hope he gets into grad school, at Cal???, & has a successful career.

no

he claims that doing this is a waste of time and if he's in school he wants to be working towards something.

I believe they only had one class left in their undergraduate program like Mett last season.

Thanks for the clarifications. I thought the whole grad school/denial angle was being overplayed.

Isn't the rule for the grad school transfer that he can only transfer and play if his former school does not offer the program in which he plans to pursue a graduate degree and the new school does?
