I haven't seen any threads on here about Bates Motel.

This show is surprisingly well made. I didn't think a prequel to a movie made almost 60 years ago would be this good.

It's about a really twisted family.

Though there is a continuing storyline, many of the episodes are good stand alone. I think you can pick up an episode in the middle of the season and still enjoy it, unlike some shows where the viewer will be totally lost unless they watch it from the beginning.

Every time a new character is introduced, you think, how and why is Norman going to kill this one?

Both Norman and Norma are really superb in their acting. As one person said, just their facial expressions alone are great. Norman has really been coming on of late in his acting, but IMO the overall nod still goes to Norma.

I do wish they spent more time in the bros' room with the crazy pot guy's sister, though, when she just paid him visit. I mean really, this show's not destined for many happy endings, they at least could have given us that.

It's enjoyable, they do a great job of making you feel sympathy and hatred toward Norma all at the same time.

I watched the first season on Netflix and DVRed the second. I just caught up and I love the show. I want to see how Norman is going to react once he realizes what he is.

That is a sign of great writing and even better acting.

It's the small things that makes this show stand out IMO, the attention to detail. Love the mannerisms both Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga display, the way they interact is great acting. Olivia Cook has been great as Emma as well.
