Can't help but wonder if caddies actually help the golfer or just serve as a distraction from all the pressure/someone to talk to/hold their hand.

Some are 10% some are up to 15%. Most on tour are all expenses paid 30-50k plus 2-5% winnings. Very few are set to a certain number per win. Tigers caddie I think was 100k a year plus 10-20k per win.
