Looking for places to rent in NOLA. (Uptown/GD/Magazine)
The facts:
Early 30's couple, no kids
Dog friendly
~1,000/month (see sig line)
Sqft not a huge concern, short term solution until we find the right house.
Any good method of finding a house to rent over an apartment? Any typical site that gets the most traffic?
Thanks in advance, I look forward to the helpful and clever responses alike.

You would be lucky to find a $1000/month home in Metairie. In NOLA proper, you don't stand a chance unless you are willing to live in a really shitty, legitimately dangerous area.

Hmmm, have seen many places available for +/-250 of there. Granted not that big, wouldn't expect them to be. Just started looking so maybe they were all in shitty parts.

Good luck finding 1000 a month in a good area on the Northshore, let alone NOLA

$1000 is now the low end for convenient/safe 1 BR places in those hoods
Your best bet is to drive around looking for signs between 1 month and 2 weeks of your move in. Second, contact agents. A lot of NOLA landlords don't use craigslist. Therefore, the listings on there tend to be priced higher due to a perceived lack of supply.
TL;DR - NOLA still acts like a small town for rentals. Drive around looking for stuff.

The Saulet has some one bedrooms that are $1,145/month. Pretty decent location as it is a gated complex.

The wife sent me some place, River Gardens. Remember going through there, but thought it would be some income qualified place.

New Orleans Craigslist will be your best bet. Filter for your maximum price to get a more accurate representation of what's available.
You will be able to find a side of a house, but likely not an entire house in that price range.

That may work. Figure we would be looking at well under 1000 sqft in that price range, but it will be just me so I'm not too picky.
I guess I can just keep increasing the price until I find what I want. Hopefully I don't end up too far into the ghetto like Mastiyezzy.

I told my wife it looked like a place that was setup to decline quickly.

Hahaha River Gardens... Umm no Bra
looks nice but still in bad area. Can't take the hood out the hood even if you put fresh paint on it

Bad enough I get asked everyday why I don't move to Chalmette.

Chalmette smells, at least Kenner is more Gonzales that it is Darrow

Doesn't Glassman own a bunch of rental properties?
