The Missouri Department of Transportation revealed two newly acquired LRAD sound cannons this week, which will reportedly be used to target vehicles that speed in work zones.

Coming in at $25,000 a piece, the Long-Range Acoustic Device, a sonic weapon best know for its use against protesters and insurgents in Afghanistan, will alert drivers to road conditions by shooting a loud verbal message through their windshields.

Thanks, Obama...

Wont be long before it causes a wreck and someone gets sued over it.

I wonder if this thing is loud enough to break your windshield. Maybe if it has a crack in it. I would imagine glass flying in your face at 85 mph is not a pleasant feeling.

Actually I'm hoping someone hacks the system and changes the message to:

"This is God! Return to your home and prepare for the end of days!"

or something like that.

If everyone took a pic of a road construction zone, they could find something to sue for based on the MUTCD book

Sounds like a great way to give an old person a heart attack.

I will just go ahead and admit, I would get blasted by that thing. I still think that's awesome either way. I would say, you know what, you are right, I'm going too fast and then slow down. So I'm cool with it.

The freak out are gonna be comical

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just put an empty cop car with its lights on somewhere.

Complete waste of money.

Haul arse through the construction zones and when you see workers standing around holding a sign, throw out a handful of pennies and watch them scatter.
