How pathetic is john Barry now?

Looking like his frivolous legacy lawsuits against the oil and gas companies are about to get swept out by the legislature. I see he's taken to move on.org trying to get his message out. How pathetic, I wonder what kind of cut the lawyers were offering for him to start this bs in the first place. I'm glad this waste of tax payer time and money will soon be a thing of the past.
ETA
Also its funny how the lawyers now want to settle the case.......can't wait for the O&G companies to tell them to take a hike. If this doesn't tell you it's all about the money, nothing does.

Attorneys representing the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East in its wetlands damages lawsuit against 97 oil, gas and pipeline companies on Tuesday proposed to waive fees they are now owed if the companies agree within six months to begin negotiating an agreement.

That waiver, however, also would require the energy companies to agree to pay "mutually agreeable attorneys' fees" associated with working out the compromise. If the levee authority and the energy companies can't reach an agreement, both sides would be required to submit the question of attorneys' fees to arbitration.

That whole thing reeks of a woman yelling "Rape!" after she's had consensual sex with a guy for over 50 years.

Yep, cleaned his plate then complained to the waitress that he wanted a refund. It didn't taste good!

his frivolous legacy lawsuits
Does John Barry have more than one legacy lawsuit that he is affiliated with?
How would you define a lawsuit to be "frivolous"?
And under your definition, what specific allegations of the SLFPAE lawsuit are frivolous?

I guess if you go by the letter it was just one against 97 companies.

It's baseless and done in a blatant attempt to extort money from a specific party.

That the coastal erosion we are facing is a direct result of the O&G industry. While the industry may have had some culpability, they are certainly not the only party at fault. Oil and Gas companies paid compensation in the form of royalties......and up until recently, the Feds took most of these royalties and kept the majority for their own coffers rather than giving it back to fix what may have been broken.

So a suit is baseless if one of the parties has some culpability?

Have you read the suit? I can't find anywhere in the allegations that say that the O & G industry's actions were the only cause of coastal erosion. In fact, the proponents of the suit have pointed out studies by the U.S. Geological Survey and Mid-Continent Oil and Gas that depict that the industry is not the only responsible party.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that the suit is limited to the issuance of permits for dredging the canals. Royalties are based off of production, not the creation of canals.

I think you are correct on most of those. I will not argue that it is not an attempt to get $.

OP if the suits are so frivolous why do they need the legislature to sweep them out?
quote:Gotta admit that's some funny shite. So transparent.

This is what I hope gets fixed from all of this crap. Some of our corrupt La politicians fcked us over decades ago by agreeing to a bad royalty deal so they could line their pockets. La has helped provide the country with a great deal of oil and gas, but we have not received near the royalties of lesser states.
Right now I think it is 2 or 3 years off before we start getting our fair share of royalties. They should push to make this happen this year and maybe even include some back pay.
Overall, oil and gas has been very good to this state and will continue to be a great industry, so I'm not up for a lawsuit.
