Supposedly 108-123 is considered bad according to reports. Other qbs threw around 65 passes though.

Mixed reviews. The knee looked fine, but he wasn't as sharp as he would have liked. Still, he proved that he will be ready by preseason so that is really good for him.

Did a lot of roll out passes and long drops to prove the knee wasn't bothering him.

While the % is fine it was reported that a lot of balls were just not right on target. With no defense they expect a lot from a QB.

I understand wanting to show off the knee, but the pro day is the one time that you control the setting and can script the workout to show your particular skills off. I can probably count on one hand the number of times that we ran designed roll outs for Mett. Why do something that you weren't good at even with a healthy ACL?

Landry and Wright accounted for at least 5 drops I believe.

I think he did what he needed. They can watch film on him for accuracy questions. Today was a showcase on mobility and his rehabilitation which he passed with flying colors.

Lots of top tier talent doesnt throw from time to time. This was a great day for Mett in my opinion

They can look to film for everything else. Why show them what they already know? His biggest concern is the knee. So show them it isn't a concern.

And Beckham saved several bad throws. All comes out in the wash.

Because all teams are concerned with right now is his health. 100/100 on a two step drop wouldn't show anything

I guess my point is why do something you have never been asked to do and will never be asked to do? It would be like Keith Zinger flexing out wide for his pro day. IMO Mett would have been better off doing some agility drills to show off the knee, then sticking with his strong points in the passing drills.

There are other ways he could have proven his knee health without affecting his passing performance.

Why do people bench press if they will never have to pick something up that size in football? Because it proves strength. Similarly, this proves his knee is okay.

I don't think that's necessarily what affected his passing. He hit 29 of his first 30. I think he got a little tired. That's okay seeing that he threw twice as many as most do.

People bench press because that is what the league asks them to do at the combine. At the pro day you can literally do (or not do) whatever you want. Doing a simple cone drill or shuttle would prove his knee is okay much better than throwing roll out passes, which he never did even when healthy.

As far as getting tired, he shouldn't have scripted such a long workout if he wasn't in shape for it. Also, it sounded like a lot of the longer throws were later in the drill, which could account for the completion percentage going down.

I have a lot of respect for him to be able to do what he did in such a short time after his surgery. I just question if he did what was really best for himself.

That would be 'swept' not 'sacked.'

You have to account for him being injured since November and having to work on his recovery time from that injury. He has to be a little rusty. Most other QBs were working on QB drills while Zack was working on recovery.

It shouldn't be that shocking that a guy recovering from major surgery went out and threw 100+ times.

Example: Sam Bradfords pro day

quote:

The guy threw every route. He did not throw one bad pass. It’s a very catchable ball, he moves around well, he carries himself well. I think he’s got a very, very bright future ahead of him.”

quote:

With representatives of all 32 teams in attendance – including the Redskins’ general manager, Bruce Allen, and Rams Coach Steve Spagnuolo, who was caught on camera talking to Bradford immediately after the workout ended – Bradford threw, by some estimates, about 100 passes to all parts of the field. He threw from a simulated shotgun and he threw on the run and he seemed particularly at ease with deep passes. He showed no sign of discomfort – he said at the scouting combine that he has had no pain – and his arm seemed strong.
