Is this behind built to accommodate soccer in the future? I have no idea if we have the demographics to support MLS in the future, or how their business structure compares to NFL and NBA, but it would be smart to build it for at least the prospect. Also, money for Tulane.

Dude, the thing is literally shoe-horned into that space. I don't think it qualifies as a multifunction stadium.

We don't have quite enough interest to support MLS. Maybe 10 years down the road though. I doubt Tulane would want to share their stadium however.

Is MLS revenue more attendance-driven than the Big 4? I'm not saying we are ready, but we're trending with the Hispanic growth since Katrina.

Would have been great to have an upstart rivalry with expansion Atlanta. Maybe Benson will get envious of Arthur Blank.

It's the right size I would think, but the neighbors have already been having a bitchfest about the six home Tulane games. I can't imagine the fight if they had to deal with another 15+ soccer games a year.

There was some far out message board rumor that Glazer (owner of Man United and big Tulane donor) was talking about bringing a ManU affiliated MLS team to NOLA to play at Yulman. I don't believe a word of it, but it's fun to think about.

His son Avram lives in N.O. and Avram's wife is an alumnae and on the board of trustees. One of the new stadium's club sections is named after them.

Im a student again at tulane and go walk through the stadium pretty often. They leave it unlocked. Did a realky good job with it. Im excited to check out a couple games. I hope they can now put a decent product on the field. I dont see why they couldnt have the success of say ull on the regular

Dunno, but it needed to be bigger. Tulane shouldn't have settled for less than 40K capacity IMHO...

You dont need to have a MLS team to have soccer here. Tulane missed the boat on this one. Tulane board members and donors to the stadium are the Glazers who own Man U and Tampa Bay Bucs. Between them and the Bensons Yulman could have hosted 1-2 international games a year that already tour the U.S. Tulane punked out to the NIMBYs and now they have a 1 trick pony.

Tulane didn't even draw 40k during their undefeated season. 30k is just right (maybe a little too big). Plus their ad just said friday that their have plans to expand it 5-10k if ever needed.

I lurk on green wave boards from time to time.
