Duell Moreland pleaded guilty on April 3 to illegally killing a Louisiana black bear in Concordia Parish last November

quote:

Seventh Judicial District Judge Kathy Johnson accepted his plea and sentenced him to a $10,000 civil restitution fee for replacement value of the bear, a $950 fine, $254 in court costs, two years of probation, 120 days in the Concordia Parish Jail with 60 days suspended, suspension of his hunting license for five years and he cannot possess a firearm or bow for five years

And this idiot went on to commit more crimes in January

quote:

In a separate incident on Jan. 31 of this year, Moreland and Ronnie Mason, 43, of Jonesville, were arrested for alleged hunting violations on Bayou Cocodrie National Wildlife Refuge, according to LDWF.

quote:

In that case, Moreland was booked for hunting during illegal hours, failing to comply with deer tagging requirements, second offense illegal possession of marijuana, resisting an officer, possession of marijuana while in possession of a firearm, hunting deer using illegal methods and using archery equipment with illegal sights, according to LDWF.

This dude should never be able to own a hunting gun or bow or buy a hunting license for the rest of his life.

The ransonet guy in new iberia got off with 3000 buck fine and no jail time.

But he comes from money

Its more expensive to book a legal hunt in canada for a bear

Rules, laws, and sentences forbidding that activity don't hold water in Concordia parish. The only way to keep this idiot from breaking the law is to cage him. Kind of like a dog that refuses to not get in the trash, you kennel him.(or kill him)

Just seeing this, I am glad, that SOAB was poaching my buddies place in Monterey as well. I highly doubt it will do much to change his ways though.

That would just save this a-hole some coin.

repeat offender, this is where the book gets thrown at him. max time in prision, fine him into bankruptcy, lifetime ban from gun ownership/hunting license.

Glad to see this. I wish they had given him even more penalties.
