What round is he projected to go in? Can we grab a starting C in round 2 this year? Haven't seen much in the way of C's in mock drafts. (Haven't really been looking for them though)

He's projected 4th or 5th round.

I like Richburg more, but I'm glad to see we're doing our homework.

for me he might be a stretch at #58 but a great value pick at #91.

Stork has played some guard too. I think that could be a determining factor in drafting a Center. He could do a year or two at Center then slide over to guard. Our 18 million dollar guards escalate to $21mil in 2015 at ages 31 & 32.

Stork is a round 3-5 guy (probably 4th). There are some concerns with his lower body strength and I think he has had some injuries. Funny thing is that NFLDraftScout.com shows his NFL comparison as Brian DeLaPuente

STRENGTHS: Tenacious and technically-sound center whose awareness and reliability made him an underrated factor in Jameis Winston's Heisman campaign. Very good initial quickness, whether snapping the ball out of shotgun or the traditional exchange and turning to seal off defenders or releasing to block downfield. Shoots his hands into the chest plate of defenders and plays with his knees bent and butt down, maximizing his leverage.
Alert and active. Seeks out extra opponents to block and switches quickly to handle stunts and blitzes. The unquestioned leader of the Seminoles' offensive line. Leaves FSU with 40 career starts, including five at right guard and one at left guard. Also practiced at tackle prior to the 2012 season.

WEAKNESSES: Top-heavy with a "beach physique." Much thicker and stronger in his upper half than lower and struggles gaining movement at the point of attack as a result. Possesses just average body control when blocking on the move, too often failing to land and sustain effective downfield blocks.

COMPARES TO: Brian De La Puente, Saints: Competitiveness and savvy as a pass blocker could get Stork drafted, but like De La Puente (who played for four teams before latching on with the Saints), Stork could bounce around a bit as he gains strength before finding a true fit.

I don't want this guy. Martin, Richburg, and Swanson are all better than he is, and less of a risk.

Here are his weaknesses on his nfl.com draft profile:

quote:

Weaknesses Has short arms and stiff hips. Lumbering movement skill -- can be late to reach the second level. Dips his head and grabs. Tends to play tall and can be bulled into the backfield when he rises straight up. Not explosive -- cannot sink his hips and roll off the ball in the run game to move defenders. Average functional strength. Benefited from playing alongside two very talented guards that helped cover up deficiencies.

his nfl.com draft profile

DRAFT PROJECTION Rounds 5-6
BOTTOM LINE Good-sized, bump-and-steer blocker ideally suited for a zone-blocking, slide-protection scheme. Smart, tough technician capable of serving as an interior swing backup and could eventually fend for a starting job as a pivot. Will be best developed by a patient, respectful position coach.

they implemented more zone blocking and might have more on the horizon. Guard capability fits the bill too. 3rd to 5th Rd and keep the sexy picks higher.

If they're looking to the draft to fill the hole at Center, then I would prefer we go with a higher rated prospect. If we sign a vet like Goodwin, then I don't mind waiting later and picking up Stork to let him fight it out with Lelito.

what we dunno is exactly how the team rates or sees Lelito. What round they take a Center might reflect that.

Gotta be sumpin to do teaming up Juneyahs badass beard with this white boy...

He was absolutely humiliated at the Senior Bowl practices. Linemen were taking turns just driving him into the backfield. Short of inviting him in as an undrafted rookie, do not want.

With the Saints, I wouldn't be surprised if our starting center in 2014 was Macky MacPherson (Syracuse), Tim Barnes, Josh Allen (ULM), Fernando Velasco, Garth Gerhart or Jonathan Goodwin.

All that being said, Not a huge fan of Stork at starting center this year. Seems like a project player, not a guy to start for a Superbowl contender.
