Ommegang put out another installment in its line-up of gimmicky, limited quantity Game of Thrones themed beers last week - "Fire and Blood" red ale.

I know someone desperate to taste this and I thought it would make a good birthday present for them. I'm struggling to find a bottle anywhere around here, though. I tried Cuban Liquors but their Ommegang selection, while existent, was limited.

I figure if they don't have it then I should probably give up on Baton Rouge having it, and I'm almost out of time anyway, but I figured hell, I'd give TD an opportunity to save the day. Anyone have any other ideas for where to look before I throw in the towel?

Calandros on Perkins maybe? This finder said there isn't any in B.R.

I bought bottles of Iron Throne at Steins Deli in NOLA and The Bulldog here last year.

Try the Cove too. They had Take the Black on tap last fall.

Some posters here may have an extra bottle. In fact I think I do. I'd have to do some digging

Check Red, White and Brew in Hammond, if they have it I could pick it up and transport it to br if needed

I talked with one of the craft reps at Mockler. Looks like Ommegang is dragging their heels and it'll be a bit before it gets to Baton Rouge. Like a month at least

That's a similar to what I was told by the people at Matherne's and Cuban Liquor. Something about how the deliveries are on some kind of rotation, and by the time it gets to BR, it'll be a month or more before it gets here.

It's worth picking up. I'm a big fan of Ommegang -- Three Philosophers is a favorite -- and the first two Game of Thrones beers were really good.

Just in case anyone was wondering how my saga concluded - Red White & Brew received a two case shipment early in the week and I drove out there to grab two bottles yesterday. It wouldn't surprise me if their stock was depleted in a matter of days.

So, if Hammond got theirs it's probably hopeful that BR is getting its allocated amount in the near future. Anyone interested in getting some for themselves should probably keep tabs on Bin Q, Whole Foods, Calandro's and whatever other established Ommegang carriers the city has. These beers seem to be bottled in obnoxiously small amounts that disappear in a hurry, so be ready.

And don't rely on the Ommegang site's beer finder: it's useless. Calling the store is the only effective way.

They had it at Matherne's on BB yesterday, picked some up. I really dug the first two, didn't love this latest offering. It's ok for my taste.
