I realize there's already a thread on the Soccer board, but those aren't the people I want hear from. I assume there's a lot of Atlanta area fans here, so how many of you will check them out?

The Atlanta Silverbacks of the NASL averaged over 5k per game last year. That's for a league that soccer fans don't even care about.

They definitely don't.

But yeah, they'll support an MLS team assuming it is competitive at some point. Soccer is almost certainly a bigger draw than hockey in Atlanta.

It's pretty exciting. I'm not an Atlanta fan, but I do love soccer.

I'm skeptical but I hope it works. I'm worried about them playing in a big football stadium with turf. Feels like we're rewinding the league 15 years.

Arthur can bus the fans straight from his stores

Upper level will be cordoned off to make the stadium more scaleable to MLS crowds:

Wow. That's what the stadium is going to look like? Beautiful.

As long as Blank is the owner I am pretty optimistic about the team. Biggest issue with Thrashers and Hawks is terrible ownership.

This.

MLS will do fine in Atlanta. Every time there is a match at the GA Dome MARTA is full and the traffic is terrible on Northside. Why? Because those events sell out.

Atlanta sports fans get a bad rep because no one is from here. The closest they have to a loyal fan base is he Braves, and that's because everyone who lives here whobis originally from the SE are Braves fans because of TBS.

I would argue that Atlanta is a great sports town because no matter who you cheer for, you can find a place to see your team among your fellow fans of that team.

DC United tickets are like $25 a pop. That's the main reason I don't go very often.

Oh, and it's too bad Chicago already has the name Fire.
