I remember eating at Calhoun's on the River while in Knoxville for a LSU game. The food was nothing memorable. It was their version of The Chimes on the Tennessee river.

In Gatlinburg, pancakes. Lots of pancakes. Pancake Pantry was pretty good.
Enjoyed Loco Burro for Tex Mex, mostly because of the sweet rooftop patio. Portions were huge, and I seem to remember them mixing the guacamole right at our table. The kids enjoyed it.
Smoky Mountain Brewery was decent and kid friendly.

quote:Probably 15 choices on the strip. Go wild. Also, tour some wedding chapels...plenty of choices there, too.

Pretty good bbq on the way to sevierville from gatlinburg.
In sevierville there is a huge chinese, thai, and italian restaurant. We went in after 14 hours on the rosd expected Great Wall quality...turned out to be incredible. The chef was making some very interesting multicultural dishes that were insanely good.
Do some hiking...at least Laurel Falls. Dont stop at the falls and go to the top, it's pretty nice.

That place sounds good. I agree that the best , by far, is out of the town and in the mountains.

Thanks fellas
We plan on making big breakfasts before venturing out to the trails. I've been to a few of the sites on trails, Clingmans dome, grotto falls, so I want to make at least 1 full day exploring/hiking.
The other two days- ripleys, put put, aquarium, mountain artisan shops, local art and trinkets.
Also want to check out Neyland and some parts of Knoxville.

If you're driving, detour to Hwy 411 between Chattanooga and Gatlinburg, and stop at Benton's Ham and load up on as much bacon and ham as he'll sell you.
