If UConn Wins Tonight...

They will have won 4 championships. That's more than Kansas(3), the same as Duke, and 1 less than UNC and Indiana. They would have won all of them in the last 16 years, twice as many as any other team in that timespan.
Obviously they don't have the storied history as many of the other top programs, but why don't they get all the hype and coverage as all these other teams these days? I'm guilty of leaving them out of many conversations, but I'm just curious as to what yall think the main reason is why people don't mention UConn these days in the same breath as Kentucky, Kansas, UNC, Duke, etc.?

I guess you forgot how much attention they got before last season when they were suspended from the NCAA tournament.

Not sure what your point is. Just saying generally people don't talk about UConn the way they do about the other blue bloods, when they have won titles at the same or higher rate in the last 20 years

Not a traditional powerhouse in ANY sport
Not a huge fanbase
Not a big audience draw (not like Duke/UNC/Kentucky/UCLA)
I said it earlier, but it is a lot like early Miami football in that way. They didn't get "respect" until the late 80s, and they were not a big program.

I agree with that

This is a whole other subject for me. The only sport that glorifies and magnifies getting to a semi final game. It's almost like Final Four appearances, while still a big accomplishment, is just as big as a championship
When talking about coaches or players in other sports you talk championships, no one cares howmany semi final games tthey got to

that's just the bullshite/fricked up nature of college basketball. everyone admits the tourney is a fricking joke, indirectly

The tourney is a joke.
The BCS has almost never fricked up who the best team is.
The NCAA tourney fricks it up probably half the time.

a 7 and 8 seed are playing for the title tonight. your argument is very valid

People don't put up banners for CWS appearances?
I mean, besides, USC, LSU, Texas, and Arizona State?

Part of it is because they're overshadowed by their women's program. When you think UConn you think Geno.

Not really at all. I think Jim Calhoun.

I agree the tourney and the way they decide a champ is a joke
But glorifying the a semi final game in terms of players and coaches legacies is a joke
Tom Izzo is an amazaing coach and I would love to have him coaching my team. However, if any other coach or player in any other sport gets to 6 semi final games and only wins 1 title would go down as someone who choked in the big games. Peyton manning, Brady, LeBron, Phil Jackson, and so on would get absolutely destroyed if they had that same record

There not going to win, UK will dominate this game inside as long as the Harrison's don't screw the gameplan up.
UConn will have to win this game at the guard positions, their backcourt could be a major problem for the Harrison's.
