What distilleries should I absolutely hit up? Which were your favorites? Which ones sucked? Trying to plan out our trip. We have 2 days.

Absolutely don't to the Heaven Hill. Boring, especially since their distillery itself is no longer at the Bardstown location, but at the old Bernheim Distillery in Louisville.

My suggestions:

Willett Distillery in Bardstown

While in Bardstown, go to the Oscar Getz Museum

Four Roses bottling and warehouse on Lotus, They have a different style rickhouse.

Makers Mark Distillery

Buffalo Trace in Frankfort

From Frankfort go to Versailles, and you can go to the Woodford Distillery, or go to the cemetery in town and visit the grave of Dr. James C. Crow (originator of modern Bourbon), and pour him a shot of bourbon at his grave.

Four Roses was my favorite. Makers was a really nice tour, too, and was decorated for Christmas when we went, making the grounds beautiful.

As was said, Heaven Hill is one of the more boring stops, but the Elijah Craig pours help with that.

Have not done the craft tour yet, so I can't speak to any of them.

Lived about twenty miles from the Makers distillery. It's a pretty nice tour. Depends when you go but you can dip your own bottle which was kind of neat. You can also reserve to buy a bottle out of a certain barrel. Pretty neat over all. Missy's out of the way cafe is a pretty decent place to eat out that way.

Are you gonna base yourself out of Louisville, or by each town you visit?

We're staying in Louisville. Was thinking an eastern trip on day 1 and a western trip on day 2.
