The fire started around 7:15 p.m. just as the wedding ceremony concluded, according to Justice of the Peace Jerry Cibley.

“I had literally just pronounced them husband and wife, and they proceeded down the center aisle with the groomsmen and bridesmaids. I looked up and saw some smoke — I initially thought it was the fog machine,” he said.

Years ago, buddy of mine was getting married in the Catholic church. He was, to put it mildly, a lapsed Catholic for years. They had the rehearsal at the church the night before. Later that night, when we were all together at a pre-wedding party, they got a phone call advising them that the church had just suffered a 5 alarm fire. They still got married the next day, but in the church's affiliated elementary school's cafeteria.

My god, that story was boring. No offense, but I was expecting a much bigger payoff than that.

Maybe God wants couples to marry in a church and not a reception hall?

God's way of laughing at the Brides promise to be faithful?
