He really isn't a similiar QB prospect to Mett at all, but I think I know why you believe he is the best QB

why are people so afraid to admit he's better.
especially if it's becoming more obvious all the time.
but but but he hasn't played in a real game.. so jenning has had one start and didn't look so hot.. why is it soooo hard to fathom the other guy is better? it depends on what you have. i choose to be excited just as the OP. not sure why people are being negative. it's great to have talent getting reps.

This.
BH is better. Forget about all the freshman this and experience that. BH is just better.

Didn't Jennings look better than Mett last year in the Spring Game?
ETA: 2013 Spring Game thread
Some wonderful quotes here

That Jennings kid is playing better than Mettenburger against the first team defense

Jennings with a long 40 yard pass to Boone
He's looking like the best QB out here today

If mett plays like mett then [jennings] should at least get a shot

Jennings looks like the best LSU quarterback today, everyone. And it's not close.

No he didn't. Wtf is wrong with you people making things up about spring games in the past.
Posted on 4/5/14 at 6:57 pm to wildtigercat93
Because of the <1% of practice time youve seen him play in?
Jeez you people are retarded
Game situations are all that matter clown......ni other performances matter...practice ability diesnt get wins

So you watched one of many practices and determined who the qb should be based off that one practice?
No, we watched him in a bowl game after a month of prep. Now we've seen him compared to a kid that should still be in hs . . .
. . . and AJ looks like hes regressing
And dont act like its not a possibility. JJ regressed for 4 straight years

I was there...and the answer is no.

You couldn't have been at the Spring game then. Warming up, he looked terrible. Had one beautiful completion at the end, no doubt, but overall, the guy looks out of his league.
And Harris is by far the best prospect. The guy has a cannon and throws a beautiful ball, plus he's mobile. Jennings looked exactly like he did in the bowl game.

Rettig has functional mobility...Mett runs a cement footed 5.3

How can he be regressing since he hasn't played enough for us to even begin to evaluate him???
He won the Arkansas game, he played on a wet field in a bowl game vs. the 7th rated D in college football in a game we won, and he started a spring scrimmage. How anyone can come up with regression give that ridiculous small sample of play is beyond me.
I don't give a flying flip who starts. I figure Cam will have evaluated both guys for the spring/fall and go with the guy who affords LSU the best chance of success.
I don't understand the need to rush to judgment on either guy, but each to our own.

always amazes me the level of emotional investment that some fans have in the success or failure of certain players.

after watching the game, i'll say the biggest difference between Harris and Jennings thus far...besides the obvious arm strength, is the decisiveness.
Jennings seemed very tentative at times, when he had ample room to run, he still had his eyes downfield looking for a target. By the time he did run, our very fast front 7 was there to greet him. Harris, when it was time to run, did so...and did so convincingly.
Also, when there are shots to be taken, Harris is decisive with it and lets it fly...that may be good and bad, of course. but AJ has the tendency to hold on to the ball a little bit longer than he probably should be.
For one day, today, Harris did look like he made an emphatic statement to become the starter.

My favorite thing to read on the rant every year is everyone praising incoming freshman as the next great thing and then want to feed them to the wolves halfway through the season calling for a new QB.
First it was Lee, then it was Jefferson, then it was Mettenberger, then it was Jennings and now it's Harris.
The rant has a new favorite ghost QB every year that hasn't even seen the field yet. It takes one bad performance from their new favorite QB and immediately jump off he's the next god bandwagon calling for second string. It's really comical.

well harris really did outplay jennings so what do you want people to say? you want them to close their eyes?
jennings took 5 sacks, threw 2 pick 6's and had a really lousy day passing while harris seemed to shine.
