Trailer

Some places are worth preserving. 17 million acres, the Tongass is the nations largest national forest and one of the most intact ecosystems on earth, and this is where I live. They're trying to build a road from Juneau to the outside, hope it doesn't happen.

For some reason I couldn't get the trailer to keep playing. I may just rent the movie tomorrow.

The inside passage is the size of Florida, with 70,000 people. Most live in three communities. It's one of the largest stretches of wilderness areas left. The proposed road will change some of that, I used to be for it, now I'm totally against it.

Here's a film by Costa Del Mar about the proposed road.

Rick Bass will probably write a book about it. Hates roads with a passion.

I don't have problems with roads. Just don't need one here. The road will not go completely to the outside road system anyway, would still require ferries and we already have ferries.

Once you build it, you gotta maintain it. It will cross around 40 known avalanche chutes.

US taxpayer would fund it, and most of the maintenance.
