Anyone playing lately? I've been sucked back in. Got a great Siam game right now.
Just finished a Napoleon game on a huge map with 18 civs and 30 (I think) CS. I was cranking great artist/musician/writers like nobody's business. Brazil was next to me and my only real competition. He DoWed me so I went nuclear on him and took him out in ~15 turns.
The only thing that sucked was, as usual, Rome. Brazil had captured two of their cities, including Rome, and knocked them out. I liberated both cities and Rome denounced me within 5 turns of being back. Dick.

too busy with d3 right now, if i wasn't i'd be playing civ v. i liked it pre expansion but it's even better now

Big Civ fan here, ive got nearly 700 hrs in Civ V. I think the finished product (ie, all the expansions put together) is the finest version of the game thus far. Tons of re-playability. Sure some of the civ personalities make no sense sometimes, but thats really unavoidable at this stage. AI has only come so far in this realm.

Heard a lot of good things about the age of wonders series (3 just came out)
I'm about to download it myself but a lot of people say it's basically Civ with a fantasy element and a slightly higher focus on warfare.

I dont like civ 5. it seems dumbed down and the diplomacy is complete shite with the AI

The expansions helped it a TON. There are a few diplo mods that help too.

No doubt. Vanilla was fun but after I discovered the NiGHTS mod I couldn't play without it. Same with G&K. BNW is awesome though. Since the last update the AI seems to be lots better.

Haven't played in months. Once I finish my current playthrough of Dark Souls II, and level up to the point of boredom in Diablo 3 I am totally going to get back into Civ!
