“I envision of course all of us playing, all of us rotating,” Smith said after Tuesday’s practice. “I see our tight ends with probably seven or eight catches a game -- at least -- just to make that big step now that we’re improving in practice and showing them we can catch and be their go-to targets. We have a great receiving corps, too, so I plan on a lot of people getting a lot of balls, but much more [at tight end] than we got last year.”

Would love to see this

Fingers crossed! I'd love to see this kid tear it up inside TS.

I'll believe it when I see it. It would be a shame to see Smith and Washington rot away.

I've given up hoping for TE's to become a part of LSU football.

It would be nice to see Smith & Washington in the passing game. But, I wouldnt hold my breath over this. The TE position has been a enigma since '07

Cam knows how to use a TE. I trust that

I won't believe it until I see it. DeAngelo Peterson was one of the biggest mismatches in the history of college football and we rarely used him.

Watching the TCU game last year it seemed like Cam had planned to get the TE's involved. Then OBJ and Juice happened. I think this year will surprise people. The offense is gonna need safety valves if the vertical passing game is weaker this year.

We heard that same song and dance last year. We've wasted TE talent before. I'm somewhat shocked elite TE talent still looks at LSU during the recruiting process.

We havent had much TE talent until Smith last year as a true freshaman. And they tried to play him early but he just wasnt ready.

Another year in the system and inexperienced WRs = TEs bout to blow up

Couldn't agree more. I think that if OBJ and Landry wouldn't have showed up Cam would have used the TEs more. He had one of the best WR tandems in the nation to utilize.

Did Peterson have talent? Yes. Best ever? Hell no.

He was converted WR if I remember correctly.

the one constant in the history of football is fans wishing that tight ends were more involved in the passing game...go to any stadium in the country on any given Saturday and someone within 20' off you will be screaming "throw it to the damned tight end" after every play.

He was. It would've been tough for LBs to hang with him and he had really good hands. We never even tried to make him a threat.

What "elite" TE talent have we wasted?
