Anyone as disappointed in NCIS "New Orleans" as I was?

Don't post here, but I came by to see if there were comments on the latest NCIS

NCIS - New Orleans

City themed TV show.

Watched the first episode the other night in what evidently is a pilot for a new NCIS series NCIS-New Orleans.

My observations:

- Bad accents (really bad)

- filled with every cliché possible "Red Beans?" make face of delight - "It must be Monday."

- Mardi Gras beads hanging on every fence and on stop signs.

- Comment to girl agent from Chicago - "Smells like beer? Probable because you're crouched in a pool of vomit."

- Jumping off trolley car

- 15 minutes into show here comes a Jazz funeral down the street.

- Only thing they missed was someone drinking a hurricane.

Was almost like they had a writer's list of 100 things that had to be done in the pilot so folks in New Jersey (who have never been south) would accept it.

NCIS - New Orleans theme desperately needs to get better.

That was not the pilot. It was a setup show within the NCIS show.

The pilot will be the first episode of NCIS NO that comes out next year.

And yeah, it was pretty bad.

Was a shame I didn't see it as funny. Would have been a non-stop laugh comedy.

unfortunately - very little of what they did had humor, only poorly forced dialogue and background.

So it was a backdoor pilot. Which is still... well... a pilot.

And yeah, they were pretty heavy handed with the "hey... we're in New Orleans, can't you tell?" stuff.

Other than that, it wasn't horrible.

Who other than Scott Bacula had a forced accent. His is the only one I remember.

Other than cramming in every New Orleans reference they could think of, it wasn't terrible. I just find it weird when they create a spinoff in the original show. There's a lot of forced backstory and too-quick character development.

Yep, Lucas Black was using his natural speaking voice.

Well, at least they got the majestic New Orleans mountains in it. It would've been a shame if they would've left those out.

And they didn't even try to play it off. They stated point blank that he moved there from Alabama.

Also, I believe the mountain scene was supposed to be Chevy Chase, MD, where there is definitely greater elevation variants than New Orleans.

They put in just about every sterotype imaginable.

Pretty insulting to even your average non-Louisianian.

That must be how Donald Bellasario likes to do it, because he spun NCIS off of JAG in the same way, then spun NCIS: Los Angeles off of NCIS and attempted to spin something off of NCIS: LA, but it royally sucked.

This is still on my DVR... I have a question though. Did Gibbs and his team go to New Orleans for a case or was it basically just the potential new NOLA team for the majority of the episode?

Man if they worked those tater tots into the story it would have really helped I bet.

Where are the NO mountains? I have only passed through a few times, never noticed.

I never knew they have orange groves near St. Louis either but I saw it on "The Unit" once, the things you don't know.
