In the absence of any elite SEC defenses, they certainly seemed to look it. I think it explains Jennings performance a bit. Aside from being a true freshman and all.

Good defense but there really is no excuse for the turd he laid in that game. One of the worse performances by an LSU QB in recent memory and that says a lot given the past 7 years.

Not to say he can't improve but let's not delude ourselves into thinking Iowa was some steel curtain all world D.

No.

They were a very solid and mistake free group, but werent very athletic.

That CB Desmond King is a stud though. Will be playing on Sundays when he comes out.

Not even close.

But, even if that were true, it wouldn't account for Jennings' performance because LSU was able to run at will against Iowa.

MSU was garbage and Bama wasn't elite by any standards. I can see the case for Florida.

I think they had one of the best pass rushes.

Loved the way they didn't line up traditionally. DL dropped back and LBs blitzed every now and then. The blitz was hard to read. Our OL played well considering.

They had the #6 overall defense in the country

They also had a month to prepare

And Louisville was the #2 in overall D. Bowling Green and Cincy were #8 and #9 overall.

College football offense and D overall ratings arent accurate to go by because not everyone plays the same competition.

That said, Iowa was def 1 of the better Ds that we played. Wouldnt say they were the best. But def top 4 that we played against.

Alabama was #1 and Florida before their injuries was #2. Mettenberger would have shredded Iowa.

I'd have Ole Miss ahead of Iowa & TCU.

Yep, the comparison isn't nearly as absurd as people think. They were pretty legit.
