Inner Loop

Hey, at least somebody out there is investigating something to alleviate the traffic congestion problems in Baton Rouge. The rub that most of the public has with something like this is the evil, bastardized word "toll" and of course, a public-private partnership funding source.

The politics aside, I have always wanted there to be frontage roads on US 61/Airline Highway. FYI, according to the story, the frontage roads flanking Airline would not be tolled.

The very early, very rough and preliminary cost for this "Inner Loop" is $750M.

Enjoy!

The NIMBY people need to be told to shut the frick up and take your road and less congestion with more and better access and like it.

I wonder what kind of upgrades they'd have to make to the old bridge.

While I think a loop is the answer, this route on the surface (swidt?) would get you to the congestion points quicker. The last thing 10 needs is another access point.

While it would be nice and I think very useful, that doesn't seem like it would do enough to take congestion out of the BR area.

The first step is to acknowledge that you have a traffic problem.

The second step is to come up with a sensible idea to fix the problem. Looks like they're still working on the process to step 2. OUTER LOOP around the city, guys.

Still better than no loop.

There isn't one solution, though. Airline is a nightmare. It's a good solution to the problems on Airline.

Agreed... making Airline limited access and connecting it back to I-10 is really a no-brainer, but I feel like it's only a band-aid.

And don't forget too that I-10 will be six-laned all the way to Sorrento in the near future.

That is also something that is sort of being bogged through the research process.

Google Lafayette Regional Expressway.

So the clusterfrick on I12WB created by the Central Twy. Wouldnt you now you have I12EB with a bunch of people hitting the interstate at that point.

None of the articles I could find elaborated on the toll.. It will now cost money to go down Airline?

they really only need to upgrade it up to the I-12 portion IMO

thats where most of the thru traffic ends up anyway

I wish all the Loop lovers would put their money where their mouths are.

When they get hit with taxes for a billion plus road they're the first ones that'll bitch and whine.

I have ZERO faith that they get this right.
