I know some like it better but Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The first one was such a classic. Same for Footloose. Side note: too many Hulk movies with different actors playing David B.

Total Recall. Never saw it (read the reviews), but I guess I feel there needs to be a certain passage of time between the original and the remake before it can be considered "necessary".

If you'd kindly tell me who these gentlemen are so I can eradicate them from the earth. I would be very much obliged.

I have friends who would kill to be on Johnny Depp's an Tim Burton's Christmas card list, so they automatically loved that garbage. They are big fans of the original as well, so I don't really get it.

The Footloose remake isn't half bad, the story is improved in ways by having it set in rural Georgia and the inclusion of differing vocal/dance styles (country, crunk, southern rap, and southern rock) that were not present in the Kevin Bacon version.

I hadn't seen the original since I was a kid. Watched the remake about a month ago and would consider it mor of an adaptation.

I enjoyed it. The only thing missing was a hooker with three tits.

I would rather them not have remade it either, but now that they did..its actually not that terrible as long as you don't go in thinking its like the original.

That's the mindset I have to go in with when watching a movie based on a book I've read. Just accept that this won't do the book justice and the movie is it's own entity. Didn't work with the Harry Potter movies, but I tried.

Doesn't the remake stick more closely to the tone of the book?

Anyway, I've never understand the argument that remakes take away from the original.
