Home security systems/monitoring?

I know the average OTer has a 24hr private security detail to compliment their gated home that is surrounded by an alligator infested moat.
With that out of the way and for the less than average OTer that has to have a home security system to keep tPOS at bay, what is the best home security company/system on the market? We're looking to upgrade the system that came with the house when we bought it and I was wondering what the best is on the market.
TIA.

A large, protective dog.
But don't get a Pit Bull.

That will come too eventually, but in meantime the alarm will have to do.

Sorry, I can't help you then. We just have the security system sign.

Anyone but ADT. Said they were sending a tech out for an estimate. Instead sent a pushy salesman who insisted we sign a 3 yr contract.
We went with Custom and have no complaints.

3 big dogs. Nothing comes in my yard and leaves alive. Then again I live in the sticks.

I've got Custom Security and love them. Never had an issue with te system, and they are always responsive. Worth the $24/ month I'm paying them.

Custom & no complaints.
Make sure you get your homeowners insurance discount for monitored alarm/fire alert systems.

Go local. We use EMC security in GA

I tell everone systems are like cars. Bottom line they will all do what you want. Window/door violated they go off and ring locally or dispatch someone. Just depends on your taste and how much your willing to spend for frills. As the above poster stated go local. Find out what companies offer and get prices upfront. I personally will install anything but if you have a problem at 3 am and call me i know my stuff off the top of my head and will have go searching if its another brand. There are a number of good companies here in baton rouge if that is where you are. Out of every 10 complaints i get and try and to help out 9 are about a national company. Unfortunatly that piece of paper you sign is worth its weight in gold and thats just the nature of our industry these days. Dad and i have chose not to go that route for 33 years now and they have a handful that dont. But it comes out to math if your looking for best deal. You will either pay for something up front and most of the time cheaper. Or spread it out over 3-5 years and pay a good bit more. Theres nothing free. We dont have prime real estate all over town if we gave away our stuff. And fwiw my office is basically for storage i dont even have a sign. But once again we chose to go the small route rather than expanding.

You can get some pretty good Z-Wave wireless systems online that allow home integration. Most sites offer monitoring via national hubs.
Save $$ do it yourself, no wiring required.

Sorry for the late bump, but for those saying this, what's the advantage? If it's monitoring, wouldn't that be an issue if there is mass power loss in the area from storms/hurricanes.
Anybody no anything about Guardian?

Not local like next door. My company is probably 75 miles from my house. I just find the service is better from smaller companies than national brands. And cheaper

Sometimes you can get away with just the sign, but if going alarm, I say eithet ADT or Kingdom Alarms.
Like the other guy said though, dog is best. You get a friend, someone who will die for you and go off before any alarm will. They smell em, that arse is their's
