I'm not a regular traveler. Taking a trip to Kentucky in June to do the Bourbon Trail. Flying into Cincy. Is it better it book flight/car/hotel together on a travel site? If so which one? Or do them separately? TIA.

Separate or together, but you don't get any better deals for the package so whatever is easiest.

Is there a way to book hotel in a different city than where I'm flying to? Guess I'll have to wait to see when I get home tonight.

I travel a good bit for work and have just had entirely too much trouble out of hotel rooms booked on the discount sites...mainly, no receipts, getting shitty rooms, getting bumped when the hotel fills up, etc...
I now use the travel sites to research and compare, but book directly with the room/flight provider...

When I went to Anchorage last November I got a good deal booking it all together, a hotel/flight/car, than I would have doing it separate.
I tried to mix and match to do it all separate on dozens of sites but I couldn't beat the savings from doing it together, saved $200 on Priceline

I usually use Expedia for package deals where flight and car rental is involved. Use VRBO for condo rentals to places we drive to in the summer.

You'd be surprised at what a travel agent can still do for you these days.

Waste your time and money? They aren't going to get the OP any deals.

If you're connecting on a flight make sure it's a reasonable connection before booking If you're changing airlines.

They certainly don't waste your time. And while I know you are essential a professional traveler and we'll versed, agents are helpful to many that aren't as savvy as you.

For a trip to Kentucky? Not a chance.
For a 21 day 9 country European excursion? Sure.
