I am not saying that there is not some indoctrination happening. I'm saying it has always been there but common core has created enough interest from the public to call it out.
Common Core standards did not cause this

You do realize that CC has a list of approved materials, right?

I know. I remember being taught all about the greenhouse effect and the ozone layer as a kid in the 80's. Indoctrination has been going on a while.

This.

In the 80's you were probably taught there was no more ozone layer left.

No one disagreed with that quote. History is obviously a narrative. Now, explain where the investigation into the author's intent took place for the statement on that worksheet.

History being a narrative doesn't mean you pass off statements that lack any credible supporting evidence as fact.

So the UN wasn't formed?

9/11 didn't happen.

etc

etc

etc

History is a narrative subject to interpretation. Winners write the history of wars.

This is too much adieu about nothing. Standardized testing has been a part of kids educations since I was a kid.

But by all means blame the "liberal" bogeyman. I mean we are trying to indoctrinate everyone.

Amirite?

re: Common core continues to indoctrinate the young, with bogus history

I posted this in another thread recently. It seems appropriate here.

"I met with the director of curriculum as well as the English and math curriculum directors for my son's school district. I went into this meeting having learned all I could about common core state standards (CCSS). My son will be a freshman in high school next year. He's taken all advanced courses up to this point so I was concerned about all of this.

I spent an entire afternoon with them. I was able to look at the curriculum in detail. There was nothing remotely similar to this kind of stuff. The math was more difficult but not because it was confusing. The English work was the same.

After all the time researching CCSS and the meetings I had with these people I believe that the standards have changed but it will be up to each state to develop their own curriculum or to use someone else's curriculum. My son's school district has traditionally been very good and they are showing this by developing what materials are appropriate. They are also using ACT and SAT scores as an outcome measure even though this is not required.

Historically, changing standards doesn't really do much at all. The low-performance schools will stay that way and the high-performance schools will continue to perform at a high level.

I am NOT defending CCSS at all. I don't like how this came about or the players involved in using the kids as guinea pigs. I'm sharing my experience only."

Common Core is the worst thing to happen to schools. It is pure propaganda and indoctrination.

It is horrible. It is also ridiculous to think it will improve standards of learning.

I'm actually shocked that is a lesson in a Bryant school. The proverbial shite may hit the fan over this. Bryant is a very conservative town.

But you can confirm that this report is inaccurate, since there are no social studies common core standards.

I agree with this statement.

quote:

The other grades are similar but I don't want to text spam.

English Language Arts Standards » History/Social Studies

These standard have nothing to do with social studies material at all, just how to properly decipher it.

Common Core Text Exemplars and Samples

Hmmm... None of the Books are on the Common Core list of Text Exemplars

This article is prime grade BS. This is either part of Arkansas curriculum or something a teacher chose individually. These books could be in any states education regardless of common core because common core doesn't force you to use only those books. Arkansas has adopted the common core standard.

I'm disappointed in how many people fall for this crap. I don't understand how people use bogus websites as their source that in themselves use other bogus websites as their source. Its like your creating your own reality to satisfy you confirmation biased.
