Pat Green came out with Wave on Wave and that was the end of my love of Texas Country

Kings of Leon were amazing until Only by the Night

It looks like my concerns were true. The Black Keys aren't what they used to be at all. They are pop rock now.

Bingham

Half of me thinks he's just experimenting as an artist, the other half thinks he's gone full-blown Dylan try-hard

All these idiots in college would play Wave on Wave endlessly at parties, and then would freak out when I tried to turn on one of his real songs.

Even when we had crappy high school taste in music, my friends could tell Wave on Wave sucked.

once an artist’s main goal is commerce, the art dies inside them.

that being said, I don't think the black keys sold out at all.

They have hardly sold out. I still like them alot. Each one of their abums has a different feel to it. Plus the new single is cool and it's just a single. I'll wait to hear the whole album but i have never been disappointed by an album or concert of theirs yet.

Metallica is far and away my top choice for this thread

red hot chili peppers....although, they sold out so long ago, i can't really call them a "favorite" band anymore.

Definitely Metallica. The change from the black album to Load was a load of crap. They completely sold out.

Define Sell out.

Stadium Arcadium is a fricking amazing album, the subsequent tour was phenominal, and Frusciante left afterwards.

I like Josh alot and I'm with you was cool. The next one should be eve better as Josh gets more comfortable as lead and the band meshes together

It wasnt crap but it wasnt their best ever. Flea and Chad sounded awesome though. Flea has never lost a step and he tore it up on that album. As stated above, as Josh and the band get comfortable it will only get better.

Shitty song, IMO (and album). I really liked "Meet Me at the Corner" except for the shitty ending. Frusciante had way too much influence in that band (a good thing) and I, unfortunately, believe they won't be able to recover. I do like Klinghoffer and his other projects.

hell, the RHCP have recorded enough sell-out songs to fill up a couple of albums. they might not all be bad songs, but they are what they are. funny, i've never heard or read anyone ever disputing it until now. i won't write an essay defining "selling out", but most of us know it when we hear it.

and yes, 'stadium arcadium' has many good songs, and i enjoyed seeing them in a club ('by the way' pre-tour gig) several years ago...but still, they're certainly not the same band i discovered back in college...

Their song writing now is a joke. Pitchfork has a good review of I'm With You whcih basically chastises them for mailing it in as well as the media and fans for giving them a pass on garbage like Rain Dance Maggie
