I didn't even know until I went in the sprint store the other day, they are discontinuing the upgrade program and going to a down payment plus installment plan.

You can longer use your eligible upgrade at a sprint store, but you can still use it at a 3rd party such a Best Buy, but they are phasing that out soon as well.

Just an FYI to those of you who may not know.

I know, Sprint sucks, blah blah, but just trying to help out someone who may be like me and didnt know this was going on.

So I went to Sprint a couple days ago and found this out the hard way. We have been with them for about 7 years and we are eligible for our upgrade this month. The girl tells me that in order to use the upgrade, we have to leave the current plan that we are on, which is unlimited everything for $127 mo and go to one of them "framily" plans, whatever that is, that will now cost us roughly $170 mo. Long story short we are done with Sprint.

yeah, you could be shite out of luck. don't know how quick they are looking to phase out the third party program, but it'll probably be by then.

i could move, i have a cell phone allowance....but my parents still pay for mine so it's just extra money in my pocket at this point. plus I still have unlimited data, which is increasingly looking like less of a big deal. I pretty much just text, fb, twitter, and TD so its not a huge deal.

It appears this only applies to early upgrades not the standard two year upgrade.

My contract is up in June and I plan to ditch them. Sprint coverage in nola sucks. I'm just not sure where to go. My wife has a Virgin pre-paid, and it's actually pretty good. $45/month. Phone was $50. I'm not doing the ridiculous $100/month/phone bs any more. Anybody have any suggestions on other carriers?
