since they are remodeling the Riverwalk, i was wondering what are they doing with the WTC and Plaza Tower. Neither of those buildings are used, and i saw WTC was bought or something by Greenhouse and i just read Plaza Tower opened a parking lot to generate money. Does anyone have any ideas on what they plan to do with these?

A Ferris Wheel!!!! WHEEEEEE!!!!

It was approved, is there funding is a better gauge.

Think Plaza Tower was supposed to be totally redone for residential, was approved but the funding dried up or developers had some sort of falling out.

In my perfect world I would completely hand over the Plaza Tower to a corporation willing to move here for $1. Of course they would have to agree to stay for a certain amount of years, but they would get a remediated building for a dollar and own it. They could even lease out offices to others. New streetcar line and explosive growth recently in that neighborhood helps make the location great.

However I understand the offices in it aren't Class A and desirable unfortunately. But, this is just my brainstorming.

I thought the WTC was loaded with asbestos and that was part of the reason it hadn't been knocked down already.

Only problem is that place will probably take 20MM to renovate. That's a huge buy in for a company. IBM might have made that move, still an assload of money.

A developer is the only correct answer, just have to find the right one.

Probably was, Plaza Tower was as well, but they claim it was cleared of all asbestos.

I knew Plaza had asbestos, I had never heard that about the WTC. The problem with the WTC seems to be the design, which I heard makes it hard for econmically feasible renovation to occure.

Both buildings will be put to good use soon I'm sure. The real estate prices in downtown N.O. are just too hight right now to have these properties out of use.

The WTC would have been torndown 15 years ago if the city gov. and other political entities weren't involved with it.

Tear down WTC, build high rise casino. NOLA needs to quit pretending it isn't going to thrive as a tourist trap.

I don't think they can approve another land based casino.
